Variable speed pumps have become the standard for Florida pools. They use up to 80% less energy than single-speed models, and Florida building code now requires variable speed pumps for new installations and replacements. Look for ENERGY STAR certified models from Pentair, Hayward, or Jandy for the best efficiency ratings.

When sizing a pump, consider your pool's volume, plumbing diameter, and total dynamic head (TDH). Oversizing a pump wastes energy while undersizing leads to poor filtration. Our team can help you calculate the right size for your specific pool.

Florida's warm climate means your filter works harder year-round. Cartridge filters are the most popular choice for residential pools. They're easy to maintain, don't require backwashing, and provide excellent filtration down to 10-15 microns. DE filters offer the finest filtration at 3-5 microns but require more maintenance.

Replace cartridge elements every 12-18 months in Florida, or sooner if you notice reduced flow. Sand filters need media replacement every 5-7 years.

Salt systems convert dissolved salt into chlorine, providing consistent sanitization with softer-feeling water. They're ideal for Florida pools because they eliminate the need to handle and store chlorine. Most residential salt cells last 3-7 years depending on usage and water chemistry maintenance.

Keep salt levels between 2,700-3,400 ppm and clean the cell every 3-6 months to maximize lifespan. Inspect the cell for calcium buildup regularly, especially in our hard-water areas.
